Penultimate

Penultimate for iPadI use my iPad all the time at meetings (or anytime) for jotting down notes. I like to be able to quickly write something down rather than trying to type. Writing, as opposed to typing, also allows the ability to draw, which is even more important a lot of times. I've tried several handwriting apps, but the one I always come back to is Penultimate.

Penultimate does a very good job handling writing tasks. There are several preset colors to choose from, three different pen widths, an undo button (very handy), and a selection tool that lets you select an area and move it. You organize your notes in Notebooks, with each notebook having multiple pages (as many as you need). You can select different paper backgrounds, purchase additional ones, or even create your own. Images can be imported and written on/over. You can use your finger but you have to write much larger on the iPad to keep it legible and to see what you are doing. A stylus makes it much easier to write  - it's cleaner, smaller, and quicker. I've tried a couple, and so far my favorite is the Wacom Bamboo.

Penultimate is available for the iPad and costs $0.99.

It's currently ranked with 4.5 stars. Of the 566 total rankings, 401 of them are 5 stars, and another 91 are 4 stars.

Three different pen widths and ten different colors are available.Images can be inserted and written on.
