Comic Life & Halftone

It's time to have some fun with your photos! Rather than going through your same old process (whether it be iPhoto, Aperture, Lightroom, or Photoshop) when editing photos, try something different that just might spark a bigger idea or creative streak for you. Comic Life and Halftone are just the apps to do it.

Evernote

Keeping track of notes, photos, ideas, and all the other stuff that we collect in the digital world (or our head) can be a daunting task. If you find a way to keep it around, finding what you need in all of it can be near impossible. Enter Evernote, the app that remembers everything for you.

Wallet

It can be a tough job trying to remember all of the different passwords you need nowdays. You should be using a different password for every site, especially one that has your credit card or banking info, because if one of those sites gets hacked, you don't want to have to change your password on every site because it uses the same password (like I had to). That is why Wallet is an indispensable tool for me.

Penultimate

I use my iPad all the time at meetings (or anytime) for jotting down notes. I like to be able to quickly write something down rather than trying to type. Writing, as opposed to typing, also allows the ability to draw, which is even more important a lot of times. I've tried several handwriting apps, but the one I always come back to is Penultimate.

Rob Recommends...

Today I'm rolling out a new feature on my blog - Rob Recommends... Everyone knows I'm a big Apple geek and with that comes a lot of questions about the different Mac and iOS apps that I use. I decided to create a special page here on my site to handle those kind of inquiries and provide readers info and quick links to the information they need to make an informed purchase. The majority of the recommendations here are going to be based on apps I use and like. That's important - I'm not going to post about ones I don't like. This is "Rob Recommends...", not "Rob Hates...". Most of them will be geared towards content creation, but not all. I also have a strong interest in business, education, and entertainment apps. You won't find a lot of games here, as I don't play very many, but that doesn't mean there won't be one every now and then.

If you have any questions about a specific app or a specific type of app, you can send them using the Contact link above. I'll answer you either directly via email or if I think others may benefit from the answer, will do so right here.
