In-Car Time-Lapse Video
Wednesday, February 16, 2011 at 11:24PM Yesterday I went with two of my brothers to the Chicago Auto Show. The lack of some cars, most notably the one I was looking forward to seeing the most, the Porsche 918RSR, made for a bit of a disappointing day. We had a good time though. Last night as I headed back home, I decided to set up my tripod and capture a time-lapse of the drive. I ended up capturing 1245 images before my compact flash card filled up. You can watch the video and see a few of my photos on Flickr or if you want to watch it full screen (highly recommended) you should watch it on Vimeo, the quality is a LOT better.
As for my auto show musings.... the coolest cars weren't there (the aforementioned Porsche 918RSR, Ferrari, Lamborghini, Lotus, Aston Martin). I also can't remember a year with so many ugly cars - a couple Nissan's, Scion, Fiat (the new one - the original they had there was cool), and Honda to name a few.
I sat in a Smart car. You know, one of those teeny cars that are essentially golf carts. The thing couldn't have been made more cheaply. On the plus side, the interior was astonishingly spacey and roomy. I actually had to move the seat up to be able to reach the pedals.
I really dig the Honda CR-Z Hybrid race car prototype. Reminds me of my old yellow CRX Si back in the day. Except a lot meaner looking, I'm guessing WAY faster, and much sportier.
