Quiet

It's been more than a little quiet around these parts of the internet. Summer has been busier than I expected, and a few projects have taken most of my time so far. This Thursday I will be leading a live webinar for New Media Webinars on Aperture 3 for Final Cut Pro Users. I've spent a lot of time prepping for this, including a day spent shooting video for a short film so the clips could be used during the webinar. Some of the clips will even be given away with the download version of the webinar. I'm looking forward to the webinar - hopefully we get a good live turnout and a good amount of people to purchase the download version with sample files.

The summer is actually only going to get busier from here. I have a lot of stuff planned - from a trip to Montana, an Indianapolis Final Cut Pro users group meeting, the Indiana State Fair photo contest, a number of semi-pro football games to shoot, several home improvement projects, Chicago Bears training camp, go-karting (both shooting and driving on two separate occasions), and hopefully squeezing in some time with my daughter to do a few fun things!

Stay tuned for more great Aperture and Final Cut Pro tips - I'm going to post some things I've learned soon!

Aperture 3 at Indy FCPUG Meeting

This Thursday, February 25th, at my Final Cut Pro users group meeting, I will be demoing Aperture 3, Apple's latest revision to it's professional photo management and editing software. Why am I showing a photography application at a video users group, you ask? One of the killer new features, and there are many, is that it now supports video and audio clips. Aperture can import, manage, and even edit (as in trim edit, not change-the-look-of-the-image edit) any Quicktime compatible video format. I think this has the potential to be a great video library application, making it easier to catalog, keyword, and find your video when you need it. That is the functionality I will be focusing on at our meeting Thursday night. If you're in the area and are interested, please stop by and join the fun!

In the coming week, I will write a detailed article describing those features here, so if you're interested be sure to check back next week.

If you're more interested in the photo capabilities of Aperture 3, I will be speaking at an upcoming Killbuck Photo Guild meeting (not sure when yet) and showing off all of Aperture's new tricks.
