Six - Down the Straight

Today's photo is of team owner and former driver Sam Schmidt. He was injured in a testing crash in 2000 that left him a quadriplegic. I was on the track with about 30 other photographers the day after initial qualifying set the front row. We were taking photos of the top three drivers and their cars along the famous bricks that mark the start/finish line. I had gotten what I wanted, and turned around to look back down the track, and there was Sam, driving his wheelchair down the front straight to get to the group - his driver, Alex Tagliani was the pole sitter - for the team photo.
